The president of ICA, Jeremiah Johnston allowed to ICANN’s CEO, Fadi Chehade, after he sent a letter, to explain publicly
his statements from an interview he had in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum.
The CEO’s mentions were described as defining the domain buyers as “cybersquatters” declared Mr.Johnston. To have this
clear for everyone, Mr Chehade specified in the letter that he is thankful for all the inputs and comments received from the
members of the Internet Commerce Association during time, which led to a policy of good practices in the community. He
also specified he is more than appreciating all the work made by ICA to intimidate the so called “hogging homes”.
ICA’s misinterpretation makes ICANN’s CEO to keep expressing disappointments related to his comments on the possibility of
practicing cybersquatting on domain names by some investors and revealed the fact that the program about gTLDs was designed
to show the lack of availability of domains and no to give the possibility of bad practices on the market.
In the end of the letter Mr. Chenade tell us with certainty that registrars and registry operators will be now ready to improve their
services concerning the new program implemented and that this will take to a reduction of immoral and illegal activities in this domain.
