"People-powered pharma" raises $7.5 million to launch on Love.com

Healthcare startup with a web3 twist acquired love.com.

Ryan Breslow is a name that may not be immediately familiar to you, but this 27-year-old entrepreneur has been making waves in the tech industry for some time.

As the founder and former CEO of Bolt, a one-click checkout provider, Breslow led his team to an $11 billion valuation with a little over $963 million in funding under its belt.

Shortly after raising a mammoth $355 million Series E round in January 2022, Breslow quit as the CEO of Bolt, becoming the executive chairman instead.

That left Breslow with time to spend on his new venture, Love Health, the entrepreneur's first foray into the world of digital healthcare. According to a LinkedIn post, Love Health is launching the Love DAO and Love Token to "give power to the community, funding trials to develop healing solutions based on voting. " So healthcare with a web3 twist.

In essence, Breslow and his team want to use people's real-world experiences to drive research and development of healthcare solutions.

Love Health has been working behind the scenes to develop its product offering. While it is yet to launch publicly, Love Health has announced $7.5 million in funding at an impressive $180 million valuation.

With the Love DAO is scheduled to launch in December 2022, the founders wasted little time in securing one of the best domains available for its project. Yes, Love Health operates on Love.com. The company has also secured some brand protection domains, including Love.xyz and Love.co.

For over 2 decades, Love.com has been in the hands of AOL throughout its various mergers, acquisitions, and iterations. The Whois history of Love.com shows the domain changing registrants from AOL to Oath to Verizon Media, and finally to Yahoo IP Holdings in early 2022.

In March 2022, when Breslow first publicly mentioned Love Health, Love.com switched to a privacy-protected account, with the domain remaining at corporate registrar MarkMonitor.

It's unclear whether Breslow acquired Love.com outright or on some sort of payment or lease plan. But this is around the time Yahoo began selling some of its domains, including Gravity.com. Love Health has registered Love.com as a trademark, and Yahoo/AOL acknowledged the change of use of the domain by announcing the discontinuation of email addresses hosted on Love.com, with all accounts deactivated on July 31, 2022.

Breslow is no stranger to operating on a premium domain. Bolt, his one-click checkout startup, secured Bolt.com during its first year in operation.

Launching on Love.com has certainly made Breslow's ambitious healthcare project stand out from the crowd.
