Call.com sells again, this time for $1.6 million

Call.com last sold publicly for $1.1 million in 2009.

Sedo has brokered the sale of call.com for $1.6 million. Broker Frank Tillmanns announced the transaction on Twitter this morning.

The domain name has a storied history.

Live Current Media (previously Communicate.com) originally sold the domain as a package including Makeup.com, Automobile.com, and Exercise.com. That deal included lifetime royalties on the earnings of those domains. The company reacquired the domain in 2006 in return for eliminating the royalties provision of the previous sale. It valued those future royalties at $250,000.

The company then sold the domain for $1.1 million in 2009. Entrepreneur Boris Kreiman bought the domain with plans to connect people for advice. (Kreiman also bought Christian.com that year for $600,000.)

It appears the domain transferred hands at least once since then. According to DomainTools historical records, the domain was owned by someone in Russia. In April this year, it transferred to someone in Canada that has a last name similar to that of the previous owner.

The buyer has not yet been identified, but the Whois record reflects someone in Norway.
