German country code domains sizzle in monthly auction.
Sedo’s October Great Domains auction ended yesterday with a higher-than-usual tally of $350,000. It was the highest-grossing Great Domains auction of 2018.
The top sale was wg.de at EUR 102,501. WG is short for a flat/apartment share or dorm in German. There were 35 bids and the domain easily eclipsed its EUR 65,000 reserve price.
NFC.com sold for EUR 68,200. While higher than most three-letter domain sales to investors, NFC is short for near-field communications. NFC is used for contactless payments such as Apple Pay.
NOVO.com brought home a top bid of $52,999. Novo is a very popular name for companies. Just Google it.
Other top names include grillen.de (Barbecue) for EUR 41990, wc.de (Water Closet) for EUR 29000 and yal.com for $20,500
